I personally think we're too harsh on our Prime Minister, though. All of his predecessors would just go there and speak in Italian. Renzi doesn't speak a perfect or even good English, but then again - I doubt 95% of Italian politicians could do better, or even would dare to try.

I disagree. The fact that we had people worse than him in the past doesn't mean he should get a free pass. He speaks awfully and he probably thinks he's good. He completely twists the pronunciation of the words at the point it's even less understandable than the average Italian.
He was recently interviewed by BBC and I had a lot of people questioning me like "why can't he just speak in italian and get subbed?". He's honestly cringe-worthy.
