British Rock and Rollers Coldplay have confirmed they will be playing the coveted Half Time show at next year’s Super Bowl. Frontman Chris Martin said it was “the greatest moment” in his career and the band was “excited and honoured and thrilled” to be taking part next February.

The band will perform at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, which will air on CBS. The news was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

The band was reportedly a finalist to play the 2015 halftime show as well, a gig that ultimately went to Katy Perry. Reports in the summer of 2014 said Perry, Coldplay and Rihanna were finalists for the show — and that the NFL was asking them to pay for the privilege of performing in front of such a huge TV audience.
